The 118-acre park contains more than 65 individual gardens with each bed and planting specially designed to demonstrate ways roses can be grown in the average home garden. New roses for the gardens are provided annually by North America's finest rose growers and nurseries. Immediately upon entering the Municipal Auditorium you'll feel something special. Tour Elvis' dressing room and stand on the stage where legends like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jim Reeves, Hank Williams, Johnny Horton, George Jones and many other music legends got their start. Every room is packed with memoires of Country Music or Rock and Roll. It is said that seventy percent of the inductees in the Country Hall of Fame were in some way touched by this grand old building that was built in 1929. The Louisiana Hayride was a Country Music variety show broadcast from the stage of the Municipal Auditorium from 1948 to 1960, it launched the careers of so many that it was called "The Cradle of the Stars". Bennett Water way Regional Visitor Center The Visitor Center is located in downtown Shreveport opposite of the riverwalk and fountains, adjacent to the Sci-Port Discovery Center on the Clyde E. Fant Memorial Parkway and across the street from the convention center. Visitors will discover the river's past through exibits that tell the Red River Story: From the rivers meandering history; physical characteristics and environment to Native American history. In attition, the Visitor Center houses the archaeological remains and artifacts from the Kentucky, a 19th century steamship that sunk on the Red River a century and a half ago.
